Apple Discontinues The iPod After 20 Years | My Thoughts

After 20 years Apple finally discontinued the iPod lineup with the iPod Touch 7th Generation or iPod Touch 7 having its production stopped on the 10th of May 2022. The iPod lineup was launched on October 23rd 2001 which the iPod Classic 1st generation also known as the Original iPod or the OG iPod.
The iPod lineup is the oldest line up of Apple devices to be cancelled or discontinued.

The 7th gen iPod touch is considered by some to not be a true iPod however, it will be the last device to carry the iPod name.
Apple stopping iPod production was due to a lack of interested in dedicated music players like the iPod as for the $200 price tag, you can get a used iPhone which is better on so many levels. The budget iPhone SE could also be had for a low price and the overall appeal for carrying a device just for music has long died down. Streaming services have also overtaken old school music downloads and without a data connection, iPods are useless when it comes to streaming on the go.

Even though I said I wouldn't in the video, I just purchased a brand new custom engraved iPod Touch 7th Generation just a few hours ago, for old times sake..so I will be definitely doing an iPod Touch 7th Generation Unboxing video and using the iPod Touch 7th Generation in 2022 video, iPod Touch 7th Gen 2022..etc as well! so stay tuned!
Its amazing to think that 20 years have passed and so many things have changed in the tech industry in terms of how we view portable music players and so on. And as time goes on iPods will become more and more expensive as they become collectors items over time. Even now the iPod Classic 1st Generation or iPod Classic Gen 1 or The Original iPod sells for over $300 in good condition and so do the U2 iPods and Stainless Steel iPod Shuffle 3rd Generation.
The iPod will live on in the hands of iPod Collectors like myself & DankPods etc , iPod modders and on sites like r/ipod where thousands of iPod fans get together to share their love for these old music players. There will definitely be no shortage of iPods to go around as they sold in the millions over the last 20 years.
So lets discuss Apple discontinuing the iPod and talk a little about the 1st ever iPod and the Last iPod!
